Sometimes in life, things don’t always go the way we planned. Quite truthfully, it happens more often than we’d like. We won’t always reach a desired deadline, get a certain job, obtain a desired salary, pass an important test, etc. It can be very frustrating or disheartening, especially when everyone else around you seems to be exactly where they want to be and have the things they want or need in life. But listen, don’t count yourself out just yet.
The comeback is always greater than the setback. Obstacles that get in our way can seem huge and sometimes impossible, but there is no greater feeling than overcoming them and getting back on track. There is a sense of empowerment that comes with overcoming something that you once thought would ruin everything. No one likes to be delayed or thrown off their tracks, but sometimes seeing clearly and gaining better understanding requires one to pause and reevaluate or step out of line to see around the corner. It requires a lot of patience, time, and determination at the cost of frustration, tears, and possibly a delay in reaching your desired outcome, but it is, in fact, helpful in many ways. As Christians, we like to say “maybe this is God protecting you from something wrong that would have happened on your time”, or the general 5 P’s phrase “proper preparation prevents poor performance”. Can you think of a time when things didn’t go exactly as you planned, but worked out for the best anyway?
Don’t count yourself out and miss your strong comeback. Who knows what the story could unfold into or the lives it could impact? Channel the frustration that comes with setbacks into a stronger determination and perseverance to get where you wanted to go. Allow your setback to become a stairway, not a stop sign. Your comeback is coming and it’s going to be GREAT. You will succeed. You will obtain. You will reach that goal. At the end of the day, it’s all about how you handle it. A positive attitude will take you a long way.
If you have a setback, and you’re not doing well and then you overcome it somehow, it always sticks with you. You know it could happen again.
